BIOGRAPHY

Lamont known also as Caleb was born number eight of twelve children to John and Rosa Lee Coward in Richmond, VA. He was given along with many other gifts a heart for sight and sound before he entered the earth's realm. Raised in the church he was introduced to music by way of his parents. Church was a place where music became as important to him as eating, and even after the morning services had come to an end, to him the music had just begun. He and his cousins would often spend the rest of Sunday evening, jamming in the sanctuary until the same folk from the morning service would show back up for the evening service. For him it was a way of releasing the steady flow of melodic pulses and rhythms that would so often fill his mind even while he slept.

His mother Rosa Lee a self taught pianist herself would often refer to him as her artist because of his drawing ability, and never stood in the way of his gifts. Surrounded by older siblings playing music as well, he began to pave his way into the world of music by composing and producing for other talents. He would later become the bassist for a Richmond based jazz fusion band called Second Wind, as well as a side musician for Steve Bassett and The Breeze Brothers. Eventually his journey would take him to Philadelphia, PA the City of Brotherly love, there he would reconnect with two longtime gifted and talented friends Micky and Frosty. The two were instrumental in connecting him with Glen Barratt, owner and chief recording engineer at MorningStar Studios now located in East Norriton, PA.  Glen a Grammy award winning engineer gave him full access to his recording studios and the rest as they say is history. It was in studio B at Morningstar studios where he would later pen his first #1 hit for Eric Gable in 1989 titled "Remember The First Time". On September the 16th, 1989 the song would reach the the top of the R&B music billboard charts.

He would later go on to write for numerous recording artist including songs such as "Do For Me Do For You", a duet recorded by Robbie Mychals and Lori Fulton that also found it's way onto the billboard charts. As well as writing and producing, he extended his gifts as a bass player, programmer, background arranger and vocal talent to many artist along the way, such as Rolls Royce "Perfect Lover" LP,

percussionist on Bruce Hornsby's "Fields of Grey" from the album titled "Harbor Lights", Robbie Mychals-Climbing Mountians, Tisa Wood-Diary of an Overcomer, Carlton Blount-A Day Without Love, Wanda Scott Johnson-Diamonds Crystals and Pearls, The Richmond Christian Center's- Faith Alive international Choir as well as "FE'VIVA" a project he wrote and produced in portuguese and english.

He would go on to write and produce several other solo projects such as Friend To Friend, New Testament, Lift Jesus High, Fifteen Minutes of Praise, and The 3rd of June series.

He has written as well as produced music arrangements for televison ads and many other media sources. He recently completed his latest instrumental project "Midnight Rain", and is already on the move writing and arranging songs for a new vocal album.

Along with his music he is also recognized for his work as a freelance graphic designer and photographer. Though he splits his life between the two worlds of sight and sound. He sees them as one and the same.

Stay tuned, more to come!
